About the National Association of Midwives
The Yemeni National Association of Yemeni Midwives was established in September 2004. It is a voluntary association that aspires to improve maternal and child health and provide basic care for women and newborns to help reduce maternal and infant mortality. The Association has financial and administrative independence and is one of the official non-governmental organizations registered in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. It is committed to achieving the humanitarian and developmental goals of the society. It works in accordance with the Constitution and Law No. (1) of 2001, It is the only association of midwives registered as an official member of the International Federation of Midwives

The National Society for Yemeni Midwives and Community Health seeks to enable Yemeni midwives to perform their role with high efficiency through continuous rehabilitation and training in order to provide distinguished health services to the community, especially mothers and children. It also seeks to provide job opportunities for poor women and unemployed midwives and support them to run small projects.
The Goals
The main objective of the Association is to promote and strengthen the field of kinship in Yemen. The association also seeks to strengthen reproductive health and family planning, as well as improve child care services to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rates during pregnancy, labor and puerperium, as well as newborns and children under the age of five.
Develop the health status of women and children and contribute to reducing the maternal and child mortality rates resulting from complications of pregnancy and childbirth.
Empower women with disabilities and unemployed midwives by supporting them in running their own

Main Activities of Association
Conduct training courses for midwives to develop their skills and enable them to provide mothers and children with services of high quality.
To carry out health awareness activities for women and children in different age groups on various health issues such as the seriousness of early marriage, FGM and pregnancy.
Creating employment opportunities for non-female midwives through the establishment of private home clinics to increase income and standard of living.
Empowering women and working small projects for them by training them on certain trades such as sewing and handicrafts.
Conduct field surveys on the situation of midwifery in Yemen to establish a database which in turn will contribute to providing planners and decision makers with the necessary data as well as government agencies and international organizations.
